It’s important to stay up to date with what’s trending in the photography industry. You may not like “the style” of the moment, but it’s important to know all the latest tends when you’re meeting with new clients. What’s trending for 2017? Looks like it’s going to be an interesting year for photographers and photography.

Real Photography
Classic poses have lost their popularity; instead we are seeing increased requests for photos taken in the moment. These shots have a sense of realness about them, a keepsake of the occasion. This trend is spilling into other fields of photography, including advertising.

Classic Black and White
Black and white once was used only for creative photos, not standard photography. Now we’re starting to notice black and white photography requested, something we feel will continue throughout the year. We forecast that brides and families alike will be asking for black and white photos.

Film Is Back!
Without a doubt digital cameras help photographers take beautiful photographs. Nonetheless, film has an engaging and artistic feel that digital can’t always capture. We’re very interested to see how this trend plays out.

Is Flash Making a Comeback?
Flash photography with it’s hard shadows is increasingly being used for evening events, giving them extra depth and edginess. Photographers are experimenting with flash and additional light sources, which always leads to interesting discoveries.
